10.00 Simon Wood plays Hang a perfect start to the carnival day.

10.30 A Big Sing put together for us by Gilly Love MBE the big sing brings choirs from across the region together to welcome the carnival parade. Among many other credits Gilly was responsible for putting together the silver programme at The Sage Gateshead and getting over 50’s making music. Information about the choirs taking part can be found at the carnival information stand.

10.30 Whitley Women a community choir with no auditions or need to read music – if you watch you may find yourself singing too

11.00 Mouths of the Tyne North Shields based community choir with songs from across the globe led by Claire Tustin

11.30 The Big Sing

12.00 Welcome The Wild Carnival Parade with MC Steve Cousins the parade will arrive down Watts Slope and head up to the War Memorial best viewpoints for the group performances along Watts Slope and the carnival gardens

13.00 The Baghdaddies balkanistic boogie dance band

13.45 Meze Mundo a carnival favourite Newcastle’s own world fusion street band

14.30 Backyard Rhythm Orchestra Genre hopping party music

15.30 The Mortal Orchestra the very last chance to see this stunning show – make sure you have your camera at the ready

16.00 Bay Uke Promising to make you smile and tap your feet Bay Uke were brought together for our first 21st century Whitley Bay Carnival in 2014 by Keith Miller. Bay Uke have gone from strength to strength and this year we have the full band with us.

16.30 Drumdin First commissioned by North Tyneside Arts to drum the tall ships out of the Tyne in 1994 and one of the UK’s oldest, best loved community samba ensembles celebrating 23 years on the streets

17.00 Soznak Afro Ska Big beat we may not have room for them all on the stage ..and they sing too
